Sunday brunch is popular in Auckland. Mt Eden is one of the places to be for Sunday brunch and Olaf’s is the place to be. Yes it’s expensive but oh the food is soo worth it.
Olaf’s does not do the regular cabinet food. They have fresh salads which are not made of run of the mill ingredients. The sandwiches especially the Ruben and the lamb sandwich which yes are pricey at $11.50-$13.50 but I can only have half for one meal.
Now for the menu I have tried so far….
The food that I have tried has always been fresh, delicious and the sourdough bread with the French toast is to die for. Pancakes made out of spelt you would think would be thick and doughy but they are light and fluffy.
The cabinet treats I have tried are….
The dark chocolate tart is my favorite vs the milk tart and the Belgian chocolate is so sinful. The Copenhagener is my go to treat. This place is about 3 mins from my daily bus stop (trust me I’ve timed it) which means this is my treat place. At $5 a pop they have to be treats. Given how rich they are you cannot have this everyday.
Olaf’s is def worth the journey if you don’t live in Mt Eden. Parking will be hard to find and tables too but they churn through people quite quickly so not hard to find one. Or why not grab a treat and head up to Mt Eden and enjoy the view….
